Fallout 76 is an online multiplayer action role-playing game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. Released in November 2018, it is a prequel to the Fallout series and is set in a post-apocalyptic world known as Appalachia, a region in the United States.
Unlike previous entries in the series, Fallout 76 is entirely online, with players exploring the vast open-world environment of Appalachia alongside other human players. The game features a variety of gameplay elements typical of the Fallout series, including exploration, questing, crafting, and combat, but with a greater emphasis on multiplayer interaction and cooperation.
Players create their own character, known as a Vault Dweller, emerging from Vault 76, one of the few remaining underground shelters built to protect humanity from the nuclear devastation that ravaged the world. They must navigate the hostile wasteland of Appalachia, facing threats such as mutated creatures, environmental hazards, and other players.
Gameplay in Fallout 76 includes both PvE (player versus environment) and PvP (player versus player) elements. Players can team up with others to complete quests, build settlements, and engage in cooperative activities, or they can engage in combat with other players and compete for resources and territory.
The game also features a robust crafting system, allowing players to scavenge for materials, build and customize their own settlements, and create a wide variety of weapons, armor, and items. Additionally, Fallout 76 introduces new features such as nuclear missile silos, which players can use to launch devastating attacks on specific areas of the map.
